Iris picked up the reins again of You First Inc providing consulting services to a diverse group of companies. Through You First Inc, Iris has spoken at a variety of seminars and events in Canada and Ireland over the past two years.Iris was a MLA since 1997 and held several portfolios during her 15 years with government.Highlights of Ms. Evans political career:marketing of Alberta’s sustainable energy strategy.• Lead tax policy development and expanding utility services resulting in solid formula for taxation and utilities in several new communities.• Lead expansion of trades and Alberta’s health workforce through partnerships and performance based strategies enhancing scope of practice and intergovernmental collaboration.• Lead divestiture of AIMCo (Alberta’s Investment Management Company) from government assuring accountability without compromising security of resources.• Lead Legislative plan for children affected by disabilities and developed strategies to mitigate against bullying and family violence.Before she was elected as an MLA, Ms. Evans had a successful 18-year career in municipal politics and was Reeve of Strathcona County, Alberta’s third-largest municipality. She graduated with distinction as valedictorian of the Holy Cross Hospital nursing class and instructed piano at the Regional Conservatory in Calgary. Ms. Evans lives in Sherwood Park, where she is very active in the community. She serves as honorary volunteer chair for breast cancer research fundraising and provides support for the newly established Collective Kitchen in Strathcona County. Ms. Evans’ three sons, three daughters-in-law and five grandchildren are the joys of her life.
