I implemented Accenture's design thinking mindset and the DVF model to elevate the underground transit system in large metropolitan cities in the Northeast areas. To do this, I collaborated with a team of five to conduct user experience research. We conducted interviews with commuters, transit workers, and city officials to understand their needs and experiences. We also observed commuters’ behaviors and analyzed data from existing surveys.Based on our research, we identified several key areas for improvement: safety, accessibility, convenience, and cost-effectiveness. We then developed a recommendation for Accenture consultants and recruiters on how to bring about a safer public transit system.We proposed that the underground transit system should be equipped with Enhanced Platform Screen Doors (PSDs). PSDs can help address socio-spatial concerns by providing a physical barrier between the platform and the tracks, thus reducing overcrowding, and improving safety.They can also help address environmental concerns by reducing air drafts and noise pollution.Additionally, they improve safety by preventing people from falling onto the tracks or being hit by passing trains. By installing PSDs, we can ensure that underground transit systems are safe, comfortable, and environmentally friendly for all users.To ensure our recommendations were feasible, we conducted an economic analysis of the costs associated with implementing our proposals to gain further insight into how our ideas could be implemented effectively. Overall, our team was successful in developing a comprehensive plan for improving the underground transit system in large metropolitan cities in the Northeast areas. Our recommendations were well-received by Accenture consultants and recruiters who saw potential in our ideas for making public transportation safer, more accessible, convenient, and cost-effective for all users.
