I am a Spanish - English freelance translator and editor, as well as a freelance photographer, who has primarily worked at the Institute for Liberty and Democracy (ILD) –an NGO dedicated to legal reform to provide all people with legal access to property and business – translating proposals, reports, and correspondence from Spanish to English, doing basic research for the lawyers and economists, and proof-reading texts written in English for grammar, spelling, and punctuation accuracy. I helped create the ILD’s bilingual webpage and ensured that it was kept up to date with images as well as with written material in both languages. I also transcribed and copyedited the bestseller The Mystery of Capital by ILD president, Hernando de Soto, which was published in 2000, and translated and copyedited several of the subsequent articles he wrote on transforming dead capital into live capital, and on making business and property accessible to all worldwide.Since then, aside from continuing to do freelance translations and editing work for the ILD and a few local companies (including LHH DBM Peru, a career transition enterprise; number 6, a communications company), I have worked on two different books.In December 2017, I helped translate Miguel Mejía Castro’s book, El Dolor del Retorno: Exhumación y entrega de víctimas de la violencia política en el Perú, from Spanish to English.In April 2018, I worked with Ines Temple and Nicholas Brealey Publishing on several revisions of the English version of Ines’ book, You Incorporated: Your Career is Your Business, and translated a couple of her articles from Spanish to English to add to the book.In June 2018, I translated the new material in the English version of the book to Spanish to update the Spanish bestselling original, Usted, S. A., Empleabilidad y marketing personal, which was published in August 2018. Up until August 2020 I worked with another editor on updating the 2018 Spanish version of Usted, S. A. for the book’s twentieth publication in Peru and Latin America. I am also a freelance photographer (Aires Photography) and have done portraiture photography for LinkedIn accounts, and photographed events for a couple of local NGOs. I have participated in eleven national and international group exhibitions over the last three years in Peru, United Arab Emirates, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, one in three cities in Italy (Forte dei Marmi, Turin and Rome), and one in the Embassy of Peru in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates. I have had one individual exhibit here in Lima, Peru.
