I am motivated by the huge potential that biomarker and molecular diagnostics can offer to the well-being and improved treatment success of cancer patients, while at the same time, diagnostics can save cost, time and effort of health care providers.I am working since 20 years in the health care industry on various aspects of biomarker research, and on the development and commercialization of molecular diagnostic assays. Building on my PhD in Biophysics from the Max-Planck Institute, Germany, and subsequent Postdoctoral Research at Stanford Medical School, California, I developed expert scientific and medical knowledge in oncology and precision medicine. During my tenure, I addressed complex scientific, technical, product development, regulatory, reimbursement and other market access issues in multiple jurisdictions throughout the EU and the USA.In my role as Sr. Director of Research and Development at Agendia NV (Amsterdam, The Netherlands), I was responsible for the successful development and commercial launch of several complex diagnostics for cancer patients. In addition, I created and led many successful strategic private-public alliances and collaborations that resulted in over 50 peer-reviewed publications.In my global position as Sr. Director Medical Scientific Affairs Oncology, at Cepheid, I collaborated with key opinion leaders to demonstrate clinical validity and utility of new innovative molecular diagnostics for cancer patients. Together with my team, we implemented translational clinical studies globally and prepared diagnostic tests for IVDR and FDA. Closely working with R&D, Market Access and Commercial, I also guided training, market access, commercialization strategies and new product development to address unmet clinical needs and was member of the Patient Safety Board addressing discrepant results and potential adverse events.In my current role as Sr. Director Diagnostics in the International Medical Affairs Oncology Team at Lilly, my role is focused on bringing precision medicine to every eligible patients. Together with my team of international scientists, we work with molecular pathologists, Dx companies and medical societies on strategies and solutions to bring awareness of and access to biomarker testing.
