The job holder is responsible for carrying out assessment related research under the direction of the Managers Assessment Research & Develpoment (R&D). This research has a major focus on ensuring curriculum development embodies assessment principles in its design and that assessment developments progress the International Baccalaureate (IB) to recognition as a world-leader in assessment. The job holder will provide the research work to inform design and validate developed and implemented assessment to ensure the effectiveness of IB assessments. Work will focus on investigating matters relating to assessment reliability and feasibility and informing and guiding the curriculum design and review process. The job holder will be required to support the Managers of Assessment R&D during curriculum review and development meetings to ensure assessments are valid, reliable and feasible.Projects: - Mathematics results of first examinations 2014 - checking if anything unusual has happened during the first examination of the new mathematics guides;- 'Common terms' - a project into the interpretation and usage of mark schemes in different IB subjects in order to improve the markschemes to improve interrater reliability;- eMarking EE - a research study into the switch from marking extended essays (4000 word independent research studies) on paper to marking them on screen in three different subjects;- Academic Honesty - a research study to discover the interpretations, knowledge and practices of students, teachers and coordinators across the globe with regard to academic honesty in their schools.
