Iris is committed to help businesses take pragmatic and tangible steps towards changing their practices to become more sustainable (from an environmental, social and economic standpoint). Being part of the Strategy capability, Iris works on strategies focussing on sustainable business growth, reducing carbon emissions and water usage across supply chains, reducing and avoiding (micro) plastics and waste, as well as optimising and improving efficiency of processes and supply chains and building roadmaps to integrate renewable energy solutions. Practices like horizon scanning, scenario planning, stakeholder engagement, policy/regulatory compliance, (environmental) impact assessments, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and (ESG) reporting are crucial here.With her experience in leading transformative projects for major global clients (including some of the largest FMCG companies) and her role as a UNGC Young SDG innovator (2022), Iris is driven to come up with innovative sustainability strategies & business models that focus on reducing the impact on nature, creating resilience against a changing climate and improve operating efficiency. Iris works across Energy and Utilities, Consumer and Transport sectors.Besides her project leadership responsibilities, Iris has been given the opportunity to follow an MSc in Business Transformation and Sustainability at UCL, next to her role. In addition to this, Iris is part of the Generation Success Mentoring Programme, where she coaches and mentors University students to help them prepare for their career. Last, with her passion for ESG, Iris is currently the IED (inclusion, equality and diversity) lead of her team, organising events, panel discussions and coffee conversations with the aim to create further awareness of IED in her team, increase diversity in the team (and wider organisation) and foster inclusive leadership.

As part of a sabbatical, Iris managed a team of 25 volunteers (surf coaches, chefs, animation teams, bar teams etc.) throughout the summer season in Zarautz (Basque Country, Spain), to host surf holidays for youth & adults (60-90 guests a week). Besides managing the operations and the team on site, her personal objective was to reduce food waste and the use of (single-use) plastics at the camp. Iris improved her Spanish skills, build an ecosystem of local Basque suppliers (including sourcing organic food products) and spread awareness about ocean health and ocean conservation.

As part of Iris' graduation assignment, she had to develop a range of traditional Dutch ready-meals for a well known Dutch retailer - combining design, marketing and packaging skills. Iris lead the packaging workstream, where she developed a (microwave-safe) tray and a cardboard sleeve with graphic design. Up until today, the ready-meals are sold in many Jumbo Supermarkets in The Netherlands.

As part of her Bachelor Degree, Iris completed an internship at PA Consulting where she wrote a Sustainable Packaging report, developed and designed new food products with suitable packaging and improved her skills in supply chain, marketing/branding, writing proposals and graphic design (Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop/Indesign).
