Iris Burgers is an architectural historian and works as an assistant professor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She teaches at BA and MA level and is involved in the Bachelor Media, Design, Art and Architecture (MKDA), the Master Architectuurgeschiedenis (Architectural History) and the Master Heritage Studies. She is specialised in architectural history and theory of the twentieth century. Her research focuses on the way in which the imagination(s) of our everyday surroundings influences both the thinking about, and the design of these spaces. And in 2021, she defended her PhD thesis entitled 'Imagination, Visualization and Architecture: Amsterdam Airport Schiphol from 1919 until 2006' at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
