Setting up and coordinating the course Wildlife Conservation

Coordination of the population survey on the critically endangered blue-eyed black lemur population (Eulemur flavifrons) in Sahamalaza and the adjacent mainland, Madagascar. - Coordination and supervision of research team- Conducting research to provide an update on lemur density, health and the population’s conservation status and survival prospects- Monitoring land cover and mapping remote forest fragments with drones, assessing habitat quality- Guiding two ecotourism tours and introduce eco-tourist to the conservation project in Sahamalaza: inform participants on the research content and the importance of research projects in nature conservation projects- Communicating research progress via film footagePractically, this tasks helps conservation practitioners in making more efficient management choices in preserving this lemur population, i.e. in decisions on fragment connectivity, increasing eco-tourism, reforestation measures, and assigning future protected areas that are most likely to support the long-term survival of the blue-eyed black lemur.

Organising study tours for students to different countries in Southern Africa. The students get the opportunity to extend their knowledge and understanding of nature, human-wildlife conflicts and conservation.
