I am a Ph.D. level biophysicist and a registered USPTO patent agent with over six years of experience in biological science research. My research included electrophysiology, molecular biology, and biochemistry work, with a focus on ion channel research. I've managed and collaborated with other scientists in various long-term research projects involving ion channels and neural stem cells, using consistent techniques for obtaining reproducible results and data. My doctoral work was completed at the department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of California, Irvine. During this time, I filed a provisional patent with my research group, which led me to a develop a strong interest in patent law. Having pursued this interest, I'm currently a patent agent with CIONCA Law Group. I work closely with clients to prosecute patents. I have long held an interest in patent work relating to biological research, especially research concerning ion channels, which are so often linked to many human diseases. I follow current ion channel research and it is my hope that drugs for treating channelopathies are efficiently made available to the market and those who need them. Strong patent prosecution is needed to ensure that this happens. My experience as both a research scientist and a patent agent only furthers my passion and value for continuing education and learning new things.
