Project title: Shifting from consensus decision-making to Plurilateral Joint Initiatives (PJIs): Opportunities and challengesCo-authored a pioneering report exploring the implications of shifting from consensus to Joint Statement Initiative (JSI)-type decision-making to advance stalled trade negotiations. The project examined the potential impact on the Most-Favored-Nation (MFN) rule and the broader international trade system. Conducted over 25 interviews with stakeholders, including WTO Secretariat members, country missions, and trade practitioners, assessing the economic, legal, and political feasibility of JSIs in transforming the WTO’s decision-making process.
