Dual Language Program: Language Arts & Social Studies in Spanish

I taught First grade Language Arts, Math, and Science in Spanish, in a Dual Language school. I created a classroom management style to accommodate students and provide a safe and welcoming learning environment. I used scaffolding strategies to help students learn in the target language. I modified passages and created assessments that were rigorous but attainable for students.

Second Grade Spanish Teacher in a dual language school. I taught Spanish Language Arts, which has Social Studies and Science embedded. I also taught Science, Math, and Social Emotional standards in Spanish. I was on a team assigned to build the curriculum map for my grade level. I also guided the First Grade and Third Grade team to create seamless transitions between grade levels. I was on the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support committee to help guide teachers from Kinder to Second Grade. In the meetings, I gathered and analyzed data to suggest data driven and researched strategies to guide teachers. The recommendations were used by the teacher for six to eight weeks to collect data and determine if the strategies improved the student's behavior and/or academic success.
