The student of the parttime studies Accountancy and Finance&Control who enter the final phase of their study, have to write a thesis about an actual business problem from their work environment. My role is to help the graduate students at every stage of this 6 month process, from formulation of their research projects through the theoretic framework, analysis, possible solutions, and implementation plan -whilst critically reviewing the deliverables and discussing the results with the students-, to the final presentation. My task is to ensure that the students’ work meets the standards of the HAN University of Applied Sciences and the academic discipline.

Teaching various courses, such as Critical Thinking, Management Accounting and Cost Control, Statistics and Business Process Management at the parttime studies of Accountancy, Finance&Control and Post HBO Manangement Accounting. All these courses contribute to an investigative approach towards challenges in the organisational environment, thus ensuring a mindset fit for the future!

Optimizing the financial ERP-processes for 144 semi-autonomous VolkerWessels businesses

IBS Omzetbelasting builds and maintains the IT needed for all entrepeneurs dealing with Value Added Tax (VAT). My role is to help create an environment that supports the specialists working within this department to execute their expertise in the best way possible and thereby help the entrepeneurs dealing with VAT.

Helping the IT-organisation be more transparent and effective by exercising 360° control, or -as I like to call it- Business Control 2.0. This means the controller analyses and advises about every topic and theme from various viewing points such as finance, staffing and portfoliomanagement. This way different interests are objectively measured and weighed resulting in a coherent and balanced advise.

Composing the course Business Process Management (BPM1 & BPM2) with focus on part-time students and teaching this course as a part of the part-time bachelor study Finance and Control.

The goal is to optimise the current service management processes of VALTAA to Operational Excellence. This will be done through analysis of the current processes to give insight in potential and then follow up in optimisation of these processes. The optimisation and future process will be supported by the design and implementation of monitoring tools such as KPI's and Kanban.

* The full analysis of the connection process from first contact to the basic design. The goal is to create clarity in this complex process for all parties and through this enhance customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, and more insight in the moment assets can be capatilised at what costs.Result: throughputtime reduction of 94% and 41% less roles involved.* The quantitative analysis of the customer questions to determine the workload on the customer care centre, which resulted in optimisation possibilites as tools for capacity management for the management and standardisation in the operational process* The inhousing and redesign of Compliance Activities needed for the connection and operation of installations to the Dutch Transmission System, in accordance of the new Entso-E codes "Requirements for Generators", "Demand Connection" and "HVDC".

The analysis of various financial-administrative processes around Redispatch (which is the interverence of a TSO in the market to ensure stability and security of the (extra) high voltage power grid). Multiple quick wins were determined and implemented to to reduce trhoughputtime and enhance quality of the data. Bigger optimisation opportunities were described by me and handed over to the local management for implementation.

The biggest achievements in this position were the optimization of the cashflowprocess and the thoughputtime-reduction of the monthly invoicingprocess with 13 days per month. Next to these achievements, the core tasks were:• Coordination and execution of the invoice process • Combine environmental information, legislation and data to a coherent invoice • Communicate and collaborate with all parts of the organization • Signal, coordinate and facilitate improvement possibilities and optimizations of the processes • Coordinate and facilitate changes in the invoice process due to regulations• Resolve escalation issues

Last project was the day-to-day management in the role of senior in a team of 6, responsible for the reconciliation of financial flows in the cash-related operational processes. Major achievement was the optimalization of these processes in both clarity, transparancy and effectiveness, which lead directly to better service for the customers and better overall financial control.Overall responsible for the analysis of operational processes, reasearch of improvement possibilities, advise and support of the management in the improvementalternatives. Also auditing if the processes are in control and constistent with rules and regulations and report to the management about the findings and possible solutions.

I quit my dayjob to become an entrepreneur. It was an exciting time with all kinds of challenges like negotiating with suppliers, coaching and training employees, bond with different sorts of guests, securing safety for them and make them as welcome as possible. You'd have to work ad hoc if needed to and must be able to prioritize within a second. But also the usual things that comes with owning a business; administration, banking, investments, debtors and general maintenace. It helped me improve my skills on all levels

I worked in the Business Unit Techno and gave advice to management and director of this Business Unit. The advice was based on statistical and financial indicators, wich came from reports I made.

Monitoring, pro-active steering and reporting of financial statements of projects and of the department as whole. Next to these tasks, I got the chance to help in businesswide projects and optimize the cashflow, ajust the internal settlements. I also was involved in the roll out of LEAN
