Archaeology:Specialisation in the Archaeology of the Near East, specifically Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Westbank, with extended interest in Anatolia, Mesopotamia, Egypt, Sudan, Arabian peninsula, Sub-Saharan Africa. Main interests go out to societal and material culture issues (and their interaction) of the Chalcolithic, Bronze, and Iron Ages.Further specialised in ancient iron production; smelting and smithing, both in terms of specific excavation techniques, scientific analysis of production debris (slag, tuyères, furnace wall, artefacts, charcoal, etc), and the socio-cultural / economic impact of the advent of iron on society.
