 Provide Leadership and Management of the Development team to deliver consistent and high quality products to the specifications needed, ensuring that quality is maintained, supported and delivered in all aspects of the work Schedule development tasks as dictated by required deliveries Prioritize the multiple diverse requirements pegged on the resources in the team Review working practices in the team and ensure that they are always relevant and optimum Plan development tasks and produce a project plan to detail the deliveries Act on customer support issues and ensure resources are available to deal with them Carry out spot checks on all work done or design documents produced to ensure they carry the required content and quality Ensure team operates in harmony and cohesion Drive and manage introduction of new developer skills to the team  Manage change processes adequately to ensure staff ‘own’ those processes Use knowledge and skills in assisting others in performing their tasks. Staff motivation, guidance and even counselling. Carry out recruitments when necessary

 To design solutions from Functional Specifications and produce Design Documents and Technical Specifications. To review Technical Specifications and provide accurate and comprehensive estimates. To develop new software and modify existing software based upon Technical Specifications. To run unit tests to ensure developed software has the minimum of defects. To locate and fix reported defects as required. To complete work to estimates and within previously agreed timescales. To complete all work, documentation or software, to the highest possible standards. To provide assistance to the support department in the resolution of customer issues. To have a willingness and ability to learn and apply new development techniques. To analyse User Requirements and produce Functional Specifications if called upon to do so. To use their knowledge and skills in assisting others in performing their tasks. To ensure that peer-to-peer code reviews are always done during a development cycle and that outcomes are used in bettering the products To ensure that milestones are correctly noted and required processes carried out.
