Phillips 66 Humber Refinery

In April 2014 I was asked to take over the managerial role for Bilfinger’s SIP contract (scaffolding, insulation, painting, fireproofing, asbestos and rope access) on P66 Humber Refinery and numerous off site installations, having overall responsibility and accountability for all aspects of the contract. When I took the manager’s position the contract was failing commercially (7 figure loss), operationally and with a poor site safety record Bilfinger were being put under extreme pressure by the client to turn their overall performance around or face losing the SIP Contract with immediate effect or at the contract Renewal date of October 2014.Under my guidance and within a 3-month period the contract both operationally and commercially was showing good signs of recovery and our safety performance was also vastly improved, against all the odds this culminated in October 2014.with Bilfinger retaining the SIP contract for a further 3 years. The contract is now operating very smoothly and yielding good GM, being in a position to give P66 116K back for contact period October 2014 to October 2015 as per the contracted gain share which sees Bilfinger share any profit over a PR of 1.0 with P66.During the 2015 mega turnaround I was responsible for all Bilfinger’s SIP operations and reached a peak manning level of 452 operatives, the TA was a resounding success with me and my team playing a large part in P66 bringing in the TA 6 days ahead of schedule and £5.6 Million under budget.In my two years as manager on P66 I have amassed +1,000,000 man hours without a single LTA, indeed in my 3 and half years in a managerial position with Bilfinger Industrial Services I have exceeded 1,250,000 man hours without a single LTA – “Safety is Good Business”

Thames Oil Port

Having responsibility for the mobilisation of the new Thames Oil Port SIP term contract in its infant stages through into steady state and all major project works. Having responsibility and accountability for the overall performance of the contract both operationally and commercially, our services delivery encompassed scaffolding, insulation, asbestos removal, painting and rope access, I ran the contract though to finish delivering 25% GM on a turnover of £4.5 million, encompassing circa 250,000 man hours without a LTA.

Lindsey Oil Refinery

Having the responsibility for analysing BIS operations associated with the Stage One Gas Detection System Project on Lindsey Oil Refinery and being accountable for bringing our operations and service delivery back on track and meeting stringent client deadlines, I tasked myself with totally breaking down all aspects of the contract, with this exercise complete I was in a position as to recover circa 30K in revenue of unclaimed items as per the schedule of rates in place.

Keppel Seghers Thermal Power Station Contract

Having responsibility and accountability for the overall performance of major projects both operationally and commercially. Providing support and effective leadership by promoting the highest standards of business practice and ensuring effective implementation and communication of management systems and processes, particularly in respect to health and safety, quality and environment. Understanding and ensuring that all risks to the business are properly reviewed and controlled on the Keppel Seghers Thermal Power Station new build contract. Co-ordination of mobilisation, de-mobilisation and acting as a project sponsor throughout the delivery phase to ensure that both client and management reviews take place at regular intervals with a keen focus on customer relations by providing guidance and management in order that all objectives are met.Production of monthly cost revenue reports and the main coordinator of all commercial information for the project thus ensuring all reporting needs of the Divisional Director are met.Assistance within the business development team with new project builds and tender preparation.Implementing effective stock control and making certain that maximum utilisation of resources and assets are used.Ensuring all personnel are fully trained and competent for the tasks required as well as monitoring staffing to make sure all levels are met, including future needs and contingency.

Multilpe Sites - National

Responsible for supporting and guiding all managers under my control commercially, operationally and health and safety by promoting high standards of business practice, company culture, values and ethics on major sites and projects. During this time my team has always delivered operationally with the Midlands also being a strong commercial ally to my Divisional Directors business unit.In September 2009 I was tasked with evaluating the commercial viability of the Riverside Resource Recovery Facility which before I arrived was proving commercially and operationally to be a challenge to say the least, during my first four weeks I made the project commercially viable. Over the remainder of the contract I secured further works from Costains amounting to Circa £900km, under my guidance the Riverside Resource Recovery Facility proved to be a very successful contract delivering over £1 million GM, this made me the first manager to achieve this commercial milestone on a project for Interserve Industrial Services Ltd.

Multiple Sites - National

Responsible for covering all areas of site operation, with regards to the service provision to various clients including BOC Gases Ltd, Yorkshire Water Ltd, International Power Ltd, Alfred McAlpine Business Services Ltd, Outo Kumpu Steels, Veolia Waste Power Ltd, KP Foods Ltd, Norwest Holst PLC, Victrex Ltd plus many more, covering general maintenance, project and unit overhauls. In this role I have also had first-hand experience in major Interserve IS projects working closely with clients such as Cleveland Bridge Ltd, LAB International and Vinci Ltd.During this period, I was also tasked at short notice with turning around both operationally and commercially high profile contracts, these being namely Rugeley Power Station in 2004 where I minimised loses and Deeside Power in 2006 where I helped the site team get things back on track following a poor start. In 2006 I was put in charge of the next main outage at Rugeley Power Station which was commercially and operationally a glowing success under my leadership and guidance. These multi-discipline contracts cover integration of site services, i.e., Scaffolding, Insulation, Cladding etc.

Yorkshire

Responsible for covering day to day operations of the regional scaffold operations within the Yorkshire area’ including major concerns such as the PMG project at Astra Zeneca, Huddersfield. Responsibilities included ensuring maximum utilisation of labour and materials, keeping with tight programs of work along with developing close client relationships.

Ici Huddersfield

Responsible for covering scaffold requirements for the site at Leeds Road Huddersfield, developing and instigating new methods of operations, through tailored planning procedures and working practices.

Ici Huddersield

Responsible for the day to day works within the ICI Site at Huddersfield and frequently being tasked with helping other teams on project works within the organisation including offshore work, principally covering access requirements, promoted to Site supervisor in 1995, being given the opportunity to develop my management style.

Offshore Gas Platforms

Responsible for day to day scaffolding works on the off shore gas platforms Central Processing Platform 1 and Drilling Platform 1.
