Creative content has always been a big part of my life since I was a child. I avidly consumed content from a young age, from watching films, television, musicals and plays to reading books and comics. In time, I would create my own stories and design worlds in my imagination. I realised early on that this was my calling and I wanted to spend my life creating and designing things. I sold my first t-shirt design at the age of 14 and found out that people actually paid for what I would gladly do for free!I graduated from the United Kingdom with a degree and a post graduate diploma in architecture. During that time, I had my designs exhibited at the Royal Institute of British Architects as well as the London Effects and Animation Festival.But the siren call of telling stories was stronger. In 2011, I co-founded The R&D Studio, an award winning development studio based in Malaysia. We create and produce live action, animation and interactive content across different genres and formats.I am proud of the fact that the people in our studio come from diverse fields such as architecture, law, engineering, medicine, visual effects, design and writing but we all have a common love of telling stories and building make-believe worlds. These different backgrounds adds a certain richness to our work.Through the years, we have been extremely fortunate to be able to work on projects with partners such as Disney, WarnerMedia and Tokyo Broadcasting System.We currently have an IP bank of over 100 projects spanning different formats and genres at various stages of development and production. The studio has completed 10 television projects and licensed 5 of its intellectual properties to broadcasters.I personally have a passion for stories that are inspired by the people, arts and cultures of South East Asia and in 2018, I directed my first short film BATIK GIRL, a 2D animated short film using the visual style of Trengganu batik that went on a successful festival circuit and winning international acclaim. In 2021 I co-wrote/directed THE DALANG'S TALE, an animated short that touches on the theme of domestic violence with visuals inspired by Kelantan wayang kulit (shadow puppets).Please touch base with me as I’d love to collaborate on projects with people who are passionate in telling good stories to the world!
