My higher education journey begins at Hillsborough Community College, where I held several leadership positions as VP for a business club (FBLA-PBL) and VP of Service for a two-year college international honor society (PTK) while also competing on state and national levels. As a VP, I spearheaded an initiative that aided underserved students in math and reading and in just one semester the project impacted over a dozen students. In the summer of 2023, I earned a BA in Statistics with Economics minor from USF graduating cum laude; since graduation, I worked at KG CCO as a data and reports analyst. I am motivated, self-driven, and an excellent analytical thinker. I constantly ask my manager how I can help, provide value to the company, and ease his or her workload.Working as a mathematics tutor allowed me to hone my communication skills which is very important in the actuarial profession since actuaries are often tasked with explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences. As an actuarial intern, I also got a chance to practice presentation skills in front of one of our clients. I addressed specific questions presented by the client and later presented my findings to them.I also worked on many governmental filings of Schedule SB (Form 5500), updated Annual Funding Notices, aided my team with pension plan termination, researched actuarial assumptions, learned about PBGC (Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation) and ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974) requirements, and participated in monthly actuarial meetings which discussed relevant industry news, governmental policies, and their impact on our work. One of my projects focused on researching and verifying due diligence and compliance for one of the clients. My manager was particularly impressed with my deliverable as it was very accurate, neat, organized, and easy to understand and follow along. As an intern, I mainly used Excel but also worked with ProVal software to perform valuations. I extensively used Excel as a data analyst (some common functions that I used are IF/IFS, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and PivotTables). Through my coursework, I became familiar with SAS, R, and Tableau because I utilized these packages to perform statistical and econometric analyses (such as linear regressions, ANOVA, or comparing data from different samples). I am also learning Python on my own. Please feel free to reach out to me directly or connect via LinkedIn. I look forward to connecting with fellow professionals, sharing insights, and pursuing new possibilities in the actuarial field.
