As an Assistant Professor, I teach courses designed to help students learn how to develop and implement a collaborative vision designed to enhance student learning and policy at all levels with an M.Ed., Educational Leadership online degree from ULM. In this accelerated program, graduate students will prepare to influence positive change, improve student performance and meet the challenges posed by accountability requirements and a changing society as a Principal.

Carrier Instructional and Leadership Consultants (CILC) are independent consultants whose work as PK-12 practitioners and scholars provide services and supports which are grounded in Experience, Meaning, and Purpose in Education. We bridge theory and practice by engaging our partners in evidenced based application and approaches to diversity, equity and collaborative planning; team, staff and personal development; student, community and family engagement programming; and school culture and climate initiatives. Our partners include PK-12 traditional and charter public schools and systems, district central office leadership teams, campus administrators, school counselors, teachers, support staff, campus security, and administrative assistant staff.

As the Assistant Superintendent of High Schools for the district, I supervised and coached all campus high school principals and their administrative teams. I also worked with a team of Teacher Development Specialists to help coach and guide campus instructional staff with the delivery and improvement of instruction. Regular functions included:-Work closely and collaborate with school principals and their leadership teams to increase and accelerate the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the instructional service delivery system for students to increase student achievement across all student subgroups, close the achievement gap and meet school and district progress targets.-Collaboratively develop and monitor the execution of the school improvement support plan designed around the customized needs of school and students served; accelerate student achievement to standards and provide ongoing support to principals, teachers and support staff.-Collaborate with division instructional support teams to provide instructional recommendations, strategies and support, including coaching, to high-needs schools on best practices in data-driven, highly effective standards-based differentiated instruction.-Work collaboratively with the chief of School Leadership and School Leadership Officer to identify and deploy necessary supports and prescriptive elements, which included the use of data-driven instruction, professional development, coaching, peer instructional walks, training and leadership development as needed.-Provide regular reports to chief of School Leadership on school improvement progress and make recommendations accordingly to ensure continual improvement.-Serve as an articulate, informed spokesperson for the district at both formal and informal speaking engagements and in the development of written documents describing district programs regarding school improvement.

Responsible for leading/supervising 21 schools (7 during 2012-13; 14 2013-2015) toward improved performance and academic excellence. Specific tasks included:- Work closely and collaborate with division assistant superintendents, executive directors and identified school principals and their leadership teams to increase and accelerate the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the instructional service delivery system for students; so as to significantly increase student achievement across all student subgroups, close the achievement gap and meet school and district progress targets.-Collaboratively develop and monitor the execution of the school improvement support plan designed around the customized needs of school and students served; accelerate student achievement to standards and provide ongoing support to principals, teachers and support staff.-Collaborate with division instructional support teams to provide instructional recommendations, strategies and support, including coaching, to high-needs schools on best practices in data-driven, highly effective standards-based differentiated instruction.-Work collaboratively with the chief of School Leadership to identify and deploy necessary supports and prescriptive elements, which may include but are not limited to: the specific use of data-driven instruction, professional development, coaching, peer instructional walks, vertical and horizontal articulation school feeder programs, training and leadership development as needed.-Provide regular reports to chief of School Leadership and the deputy chiefs, assistant superintendents on school improvement progress and make recommendations accordingly to ensure continual improvement as measured by pre-established metrics.-Serve as an articulate, informed spokesperson for the district at both formal and informal speaking engagements and in the development of written documents describing district programs regarding school improvement.

During my time as the Campus Principal of WJ Plummer Middle School, we earned and maintained a TEA Recognized status and also earned a TEA Exemplary rating. Further, we experienced high levels of academic success with our students as evidenced by:-Closed achievement gaps in student performance to 3%-100% passing rate for all special populations on state assessments-0% student retention rate-Less than 5% student removals from school-95% teacher retention rate over a five year periodPlummer Middle School is a urban community school steeped in high academic performance, and an overall commitment to excellence.
