I recently received the position of Sous Chef at The Keep Restaurant in Missoula, MT where I began my working career as a dishwasher when I was a teenager. I enjoy the creativity available while working in a restaurant through different cooking methods and developing various dishes for specials. I also recently graduated from the University of Montana with a Bachelor of Arts focused in Political Science and Central & Southwest Asian Studies with minors in Arabic and History. Through my education I was primarily interested in social and political development in numerous countries, justice, and immigration. I enjoy learning about various cultures abroad, but I also enjoy witnessing and learning about the multicultural experience here in Montana, as well as in the country as a whole, especially when it can connect with my passion for food.

Along with day to day operations, I assist the Executive Chef with various tasks including communication with distributors, menu planning, and the supervision of employees. In addition, I manage the kitchen and the staff when the Executive Chef is absent.

I helped refugee individuals search for jobs, learn the job process, and navigate interviewing, hiring, and working requirements. I also taught and prepared materials for Job Readiness Training where we teach newly arrived refugees about the U.S. job cycle, work culture norms, the application process, interviews, new-hire paperwork, along with other work related topics. Similarly, I assisted with various logistical tasks including bus training individuals or groups to and from their house to various places, including their workplace. Additionally, I assisted with other random tasks as they were required around the office. -

I aided in cleanup for the Keynote Banquet and attended various functions of the weeklong event. I also participated in communications and suggestions for the planning of Celebrate Islam Week events.
