I was responsible for delivering a safe and fun sailing, paddling, and windsurfing environment on the Charles River in Boston. CBI is the nation's oldest and largest community sailing center, serving approximately 5000 members and 3000 renters per season. The team I built continues to uphold CBI's organizational mission of "Sailing for All," by welcoming sailors of all levels, backgrounds, and abilities.• Oversaw boathouse operations and weather decisions to promote a safe recreational environment• Hired, trained, and mentored over 50 staff members per season to ensure a fun and safe experience for club members of all ages, including those with physical and mental disabilities• Implemented a $175,000 staffing budget• Prioritized and delegated tasks among staff to facilitate a smooth and friendly customer experience; provided safe sailing and paddling environment for over 100 vessels on the water at a time• Wrote, designed, and taught curriculum for Weather Briefing classes for members• Lead development and maintenance of technological infrastructure to improve operational efficiency including but not limited to areas in: web development, network infrastructure, and hardware repair• Trained staff in basic weather analysis and developed a webpage that synthesizes necessary wind and radar data for safe operations• Assisted grant writing, including a successful bid for a $65,000 grant from the Veterans Administration, and ensured that deliverables were met by forming partnerships with regional organizations to expand sailing opportunities to veterans through open houses and racing events• Develop SQL code to query Oracle database to produce actionable insights• Reduced website load times from >15 seconds to about 4 seconds by fixing deprecated PHP WordPress plugins.
