My name is Isaac Perez, and I have had experience in athletics. I played varsity basketball and volleyball for one of the top high school teams in the nation, keeping me in close contact with college and professional athletes and coaches. These experiences and interactions shifted my passion from playing the sport as an athlete to a desire to acquiring knowledge and principles of athletics and share that with high-level athletes. With growing passion, I attended California Baptist University and earned a bachelor’s degree of science in Kinesiology with a focus on sports performance. Due to my academic achievement in high school, I earned my degree in 3 years. Once I understood the opportunities this could provide, I dedicated my studies to excelling in the program and allowing myself to continue schooling and earn a master’s degree. I earned Summa Cum Laude with a 3.9 GPA upon graduation. As a sports performance coach intern in the past at Futures Training Center in Corona, CA, I learned the facets of being a sports performance coach at the high school level. Working as an intern is where my passion for coaching and improving individual athleticism through resistance training flourished. I learned both the practical and academic applications of exercise science research. These learning opportunities developed my research interest, which I would later pour more profound efforts into. Now as a graduate student, I am currently excelling with a 4.0 GPA, I have earned my CSCS, passing the exam with an 80% average on my first try and accepting a position as an assistant speed and agility coach at Quest Speed in Corona. I am also privileged to be President of the Kinesiology Research Journal Club at my school which helps to heighten my abilities to read and understand research. I hope to one day share the newest and most substantial evidence with the athletes I work with. I am a research-driven individual who believes proper methods of performing and interpreting research are the foundation of all coaching and athlete recommendations.
