As a Judicial Intern, I assist in the daily operations of the chambers of the Honorable Judge Wendy Beetlestone. To do so, I help with legal research for civil and criminal cases, such as employment discrimination, fraud, ERISA, and pro se motions. When asked, I provide aid in drafting, editing, and checking citations for court documents, specifically orders, opinions, motions, and memorandums. Finally, this experience provides me with the opportunity to observe federal cases in different phases of litigation, including FRCP Rule 16 and 26(f) conferences and bench and jury trials. Learning in such a hands-on way about the work that I hope to do as a professional in the coming years is incredibly valuable to my education and experience. I hope to use the information I gain as an intern to aid in my endeavors as an associate. This internship experience is also providing me with valuable insight into areas of the law that I am passionate about, including administrative law, constitutional law, and general litigation. --The U.S. District Court of Eastern District of Pennsylvania, The Honorable Judge Wendy Beetlestone, is located in Philadelphia, U.S. Courthouse 10614.

As a Bar Manager and Bartender at The Logan Hotel, I oversaw the beverage program for every outlet within the hotel including Urban Farmer, Assembly, Banquets, The Undergrounds Spa, and Commons Lounge. Through my work in the hospitality industry, I have gained a multitude of skills like guest service, communication, and empathy. The ability to work in a high-stress environment, and excel in a hierarchical organization are certainly among the experiences I have gained as a bartender. Additionally, I acquired experience leading a team, managing workloads, working on multiple projects with varying timelines at once, and the value that comes with teamwork and collaboration, are all lessons that I have learned in hospitality that I will call on again in my work with the law and as a future lawyer. --The Logan Hotel, located in Center City Philadelphia, is a luxury establishment that includes a bar and dining options, spa, and nearly 400 guest rooms.

At Jean-Georges SkyHigh at Four Seasons Philadelphia, I served as a bartender. In my time there, I was also able to use my passion for spirits and history to explore my creativity by adding to the menu. Specifically, I created two cocktails for the summer season menu; three for the fall/winter season menu; and I incorporated my grandfather’s sassafras apple butter in a seasonal variation of an Old Fashioned. I had the pleasure of working for a Michelin-star chef’s restaurant group in this role. During this time, I gained an exquisite level of care and observation of the guests, elevating my attention to detail. Employing all of these skills within my practice of the law will aid me my pursuit of effecting change within the intellectual complexities of the law and, hopefully, have a profound impact on people’s lives. --The Jean-Georges, also known as JG SkyHigh, was voted third best American hotel bar by USA Today during my tenure there.
