Ever since I was young, I have loved math, and especially statistics. Data has always been fascinating to me, and working with it has long been something I have enjoyed. The ability to use data to create future predictions and notice trends was exciting for me, and thus I decided to pursue Data Science.I am currently studying for a Master's of Science (Data Science specialization) in Statistics at the University of Texas at Dallas, with an expected graduation date of May 2024. I have developed many different skills related to statistics and data science, including a variety of statistical methods used in both model creation and prediction, and tests for significance of findings. I have an understanding of a wide variety of statistical/machine learning techniques, including regression, decision trees, neural networks and principal component analysis. I also have a strong understanding of Python, R, Java, SQL, and SAS. Using these programming languages, I have completed a variety of projects. These include, but are not limited to: using R to create various models to minimize prediction error, using TensorFlow to perform deep learning and maximize image classification accuracy, using SAS to develop regression models and thoroughly analyze them to create the most statistically significant model, and using Apache Spark with Python to develop Map Reduce algorithms to perform queries on large datasets.I have also worked as a mathematics tutor for the past five years, helping a wide variety of students in elementary school through high school improve their understanding of mathematics and improve their course grades.I am looking for work as a data scientist, and hope to be able to utilize my experiences and skills effectively.
