Worked with the “Mobility, Access, and Participation” (MAP) research project. This is a collaboration between universities and various municipalities in the Metro Vancouver region to improve public infrastructure to account for the accessibility experiences of people of a variety backgrounds, perspectives, and disabilities.⏵Audited over 27 miles of sidewalk and crosswalks, identifying 5 domains of unsafe or inaccessible environmental features using surveys, interviews, and community forums⏵Interviewed 12 participants on their lived experiences regarding sidewalk accessibility, communicating with empathy and respect; conducted in English and Mandarin⏵Analyzed both qualitative and quantitative data of over 30 participant data using NVivo transcript coding and Excel macros calculations⏵Conducted over 700 scoping reviews for research on community engagement and knowledge mobilization⏵Executed and developed data collection, management, and analysis protocol with diligence and attention to detail

I developed with a team a framework for an original AI algorithm that adaptively measures economic health and predicts influxes of transportation flow in Carlsbad using an integrated network of sidewalk sensors.⏷ Researched the needs and economic context of Carlsbad to build a logic for the algorithm that is complimentary to the conditions and strategic plans of the city— Created tangible sample scenarios of the algorithm in action— Designed an implementation roadmap for the city going forward, including community engagement plan for a city of over 100,000 residents⏷ Evaluated the strengths and limitations of existing technologies, databases, and sensors to identify reliable and useful datasets for the algorithm— Explored how to combine different datasets to create a robust and comprehensive sensor network where individual datasets logically complement, reinforce, and validate conclusions drawn from other datasets⏵ Led weekly meetings and identified weekly goals with the team, advisor, and city
