MoneySmarts was established in 2012 to help students make more informed decisions about money and move towards financial wellness. Since its inception, it has decreased student borrowing by over $120 million and has given countless students the skills needed to be financially wise and secure. The role of the Peer Financial Educator is to educate other students about their options in regards to credit, loans, budgeting, and other areas of financial literacy. This is achieved through 30 minute one-on-one appointments with peers as well as 30-60 minute presentations to classrooms and organizations.Accomplishments:- Engaged in weekly personal finance curriculum on helping skills, financial aid, credit, debt, budgeting, goal achievement, and other topics to prepare for appointments and presentations - Shadowed multiple presentations and one-on-one appointments to gain understanding and proficiency- Delivered multiple hour-long presentations on financial wellness topics to classrooms, as well as hosted one-on-one appointments with peers to discuss their situation and educate on their options
