My name is Isabel Adams, I graduated from 'Iolani School in Honolulu, Hawai'i and am currently a freshman at The George Washington University in Washington DC. I am double majoring in International Affairs and Public Health with a focus on Spanish. I interned for the American Legion Auxiliary Hawai'i Girls State where I was a delegate which entailed writing bills, engaging in mock Senate sessions, and public speaking. This internship taught me to work in teams and communicate effectively with my fellow delegates. I now return to be a fellow Counselor as this internship where I lead and help current delegates throughout this internship. As a counselor I use my leadership and communication skills to ensure the safety of the current delegates and help them throughout this journey. I also interned for US Senator Brian Schatz, where I gained hands on experience working in a professional setting and learned how the governmental process operates. In this internship I conducted peer surveys, learned how federal legislation affects my personal communities, attended weekly meetings, and learned how individuals could propose action to be taken by the government. This internship expanded my skills communication, collaboration, analysis, and time management.I worked as a babysitter for a family of three kids. As their babysitter I gained skills in cooking, cleaning, organizing, and child care. I also learned to work under pressure and multitask. I also worked as a Crew Member for Timmy T's Gourmet Grinders, a sandwich shop in Kailua, Hawaii. As a crew member I organized inventory, made sandwiches, cleaned and restocked the store as well as working as a cashier. This job gave me customer service experience as well as experience working with food and working in high stress situations. Finally, I worked as a Deli Worker at Kalapawai Market and Deli in Kailua, HI. This job required me to clean, open and close the store, organize inventory, restock the market, take and make orders and help customers with questions about our produce or food. This job gave me the experience of working a full time job as well as being in a place of significant responsibility for opening and closing the deli. I was able to work up close with customers and expand upon my team working, communication, and organizational skills.Throughout high school I help numerous leadership positions like Captain of the Speech and Debate Team, Divisional Chair for the 'Iolani Fair, and Captain of my Soccer team. This enhanced my team working skills and my leadership capabilities.
