Medical Anthropologist working on oncology clinical trials with genomic medicine. My PhD dissertation was an ethnographic study of the development of clinical trials with an advanced therapy called Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell Therapy in China. The main motivation of my research was to explore how the fading boundary between clinical research and care that characterises genomic medicine transforms scientific and biomedical practices and transforms the lived experience of patients and their caregivers. As an extension of my PhD, as a Postdoctoral Researcher I have been working on project that looks at genomic medicine for patients with rare diseases in China.
