Opportunity to assist the research of Dr. Karen Campbell's Neurocognitive Aging Lab. Worked on a neurocognitive aging study on attentional control and memory binding, scanning participants in an MRI at the Toronto Neuroimaging Facility (ToNI). I received my MRI I training at the facility, and gained valuable skills in neuroimaging research. As a research assistant, I recruited both young and old adult participants by phone and email, and scheduled them for MRI scans in accordance with the facility. I screened each participant for MRI safety, and practiced informed consent by outlining procedure and answering questions. Before scans, I outlined consent and screen with participants again, and instructed them on a practice task. I scanned approximately 30 participants over the course of four months, operating the paradigm from the control room and communicating with the participant in the scanner. I kept track of participant data and problem-solved as MRI and participant issues came up. I administered post-scan questionaries including the Shipley Institute of Learning questionnaire, and the Montreal Cognitive Aging Assessment. I sent follow-up emails to participants for post-MRI participation, and paid participants in cash. I logged data from participants into spreadsheets and ensured participants could be notified of results in the future.

Through The PEARS Project, I have been given the opportunity to act as a counsellor and support person for students on UofT Campus who have survived sexual violence experiences. Trained in trauma-informed, survivor-centric peer support, I focus on giving survivors comprehensive and accessible resources to aid in coping and acting as a compassionate listening ear.

Fostered a positive learning environment, teaching children ages 6-14 in areas of dance, drama, music, and art. Trained in classroom management, lesson planning, and childhood development. Worked with students one on one and in groups and regularly communicated with their guardians. In this position, I watched my students thrive, sparking an interest in the way young children learn and grow!

Volunteered my time at a sustainable, fair-trade, student-run cafe on UofT campus. Trained on cafe equipment and learned to make 20+ different specialty drinks. Acted as a shift leader in lieu of staff absences and was responsible for opening shift duties. One of my favourite university experiences!
