The USAID SURGES Project aims to promote investment and foster sustainable economic opportunities, through strengthening different actors and institutions within four value chains: coffee, cacao, honey and sustainable tourism in south-southeast Mexico. SURGES follows both a GESI approach, which seeks to integrate a gender and social inclusion perspective in all areas of the Project and also, a climate change mitigation approach that promotes the reduction of Greenhouse emssions and the conservation of natural resources. IMCO is a subcontractor for SURGES with a technical support role within the Project's Objective 3: Improved public policy and regulatory environment for sustainable public and private investments. IMCO provides the SURGES decision making team with valuable information related to regulatory frameworks, monthly media, economic and political monitoring, statistical data, etc. Therefore, my role as Project Coordinator is to manage and lead the IMCO team that works with SURGES. This includes strategy design, budget allocation and management, client relationship management, design, supervision and review of all investigations developed and activities implemented for SURGES, and lead the SURGES-IMCO team.

My research focuses on Gender Based Violence (GBV) prevention strategies both in Mexico and the UK; specifically, unpacking where legal frameworks meet public policy regarding domestic abuse prevention and care to victims.
