I am a strategic and compassionate leader in social inclusion policy. I have expertise in critical policy analysis and social research as well as strong professional networks within the ACT community and public sectors. As a senior policy advisor for the ACT Greens, I was responsible for advising on the development and implementation of the party’s policies on health, housing affordability, education, drug harm reduction, LGBTIQA+ people, and young people in the ACT Legislative Assembly. This work included in depth stakeholder management and policy development on the decriminalisation of drugs in the ACT.As Chair of the ACT LGBTI Ministerial Advisory Council, I worked closely with the Office of the Chief Minister to lead the Council’s law and policy reform agenda. This included the development of the Capital of Equality Strategy, ending conversion practices, and the prohibition of medical interventions on children with variations in sex characteristics.Currently, I am completing a PhD in critical public health with the ANU School of Sociology and working part-time for Sexual Health and Family Planning ACT. As part of the community education team at SHFPACT, I teach primary school age students about puberty and healthy relationships. This is a true joy and one of the most enriching jobs I have ever had.My doctoral research project (due for completion in August 2024) examines the emergence of the category of LGBT health and its relationship to ideas of belonging and queer citizenship. After I complete my doctorate in mid 2024, I will be seeking work across the government, research, and not-for-profit sectors in advocacy, law reform and research positions.
