In this position, I performed occupational therapy evaluations and assessments with children from ages 0-3, provided education, instruction, and suggestions to parents of children with developmental delays, and designed/implemented family-centered treatment sessions. I also documented progress notes and scored and interpreted assessments. I worked with children with diagnoses including Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, CVA, TBI, ASD, Eosinophilic esophagitis, prematurity, feeding difficulties, sensory and integration difficulties. Additionally, I gained skills in NDT motor learning and working with Spanish-speaking families.

I work closely with my students to improve their skiing abilities, paying careful attention tothe details of how they are skiing as opposed to how they need to be skiing. Analyzing thesedetails, I determine how best to help them improve and engage them in fun drills and activitiesto facilitate that improvement. I also help my students to feel that they are in a safe learningenvironment so that they can progress and reach their full potential. I am responsible forensuring that guests are taken care of and that they feel comfortable in what is, for many ofthem, a foreign environment. I work closely with other instructors, my supervisors, and myguests to ensure that everyone has the best possible experience at the resort.

In this position, I managed a caseload of 5-7 patients daily. I performed occupational therapy evaluations and assessments; designed and implemented creative, client-centered treatment plans with functional outcomes addressing client’s goals; documented progress notes in a timely and effective manner; and utilized therapeutic modalities such as neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) to support client outcomes. I gained hands-on experience working with patients with diagnoses including SCI, CVA, TBI, concussion and vision difficulty, Parkinson’s disease, ataxia, long COVID, arthritis, POTS, and limb amputation. I also gained skills working in a medical setting with Spanish-speaking clients.

Provided in-home care to a client with a C4 spinal cord injury. Responsibilities included implementing a personalized stretching and strengthening program, assisting with ADL tasks, and assisting with self-care transfers.

Provided in-home tutoring services for twin teenagers with Down Syndrome. I assisted my clients in completing their schoolwork, as well as tracking daily behaviors to improve their focus,responsibility, and emotion management. I collaborated regularly with a team of individuals, includingteachers, behavioral therapists, and family members, to set appropriate goals for my clientsand discuss ways to help them overcome specific challenges.

I was responsible for preparing all of the gear for week-long river trips, guiding guests in araft, ensuring their safety, and making sure that guests were happy and things ran as smoothlyas possible. I was required to have good problem-solving skills when unexpectedcircumstances arose on the river, and I learned to make informed decisions in emergencysituations. I also developed strong leadership skills working as a river guide, as I was in chargeof directing between five and seven people in my boat every week. Strong leadership andteamwork skills were also required as I worked closely with my coworkers to set up camp,guide rapids, and rig boats each week.

In this position, I was responsible for working with gym guests and my coworkers to keep things running well. This was especially important during the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. My coworkers and I hadincreased responsibilities to keep the gym clean and help others to understand how to navigatethe uncharted waters of living during a global pandemic. I gained experience filing guestinformation, communicating with guests via phone, and explaining and implementing updatesto gym policies.
