I am a senior at Umass Amherst majoring in Building Construction Technology with a minor in art. During my 4 years of high school I participated in stage crew for our theater company. Where I became head of the department my senior year. I designed blueprints for 3 sets, including meeting with directors to identify vision while incorporating aspects of lighting, sound, and costuming. Instructed the crew on how to cut, build, and paint the set. Delegated different tasks to members of the crew based on their individual skill sets, and oversaw the use of tools & equipment to ensure they were used correctly, safely, and efficiently. While in high school I also took many art classes where I grew my love for design. I ended up submitting many works of art to different competitions where I won 2 silver keys and 6 honorable mentions for paintings and metal artwork from the Scholastic Arts and Writing Competition. As well as I won first place in the Barnes Foundation STEM competition for my replica of Paul Cezanne painting of the Card Players. My piece used metal in a slotted shadow box to represent the painting in space and time. Being very construction and artistically driven I decided to major in BCT.
