My name is Isabel Roseiro and I am a passionate biologist with a strong focus on Microbiology, Cell Biology, and Molecular Biology. My academic journey began at Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias, where I graduated with a degree in Biology. During the final year of my bachelor's program, I embarked on a volunteer internship at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical, which evolved into the foundation of my bachelor's thesis. This research explored the imolecular mechanisms contributing to drug resistance in E. coli, with a specific emphasis on the impact of efflux pumps. I completed my Master's degree in Medical Microbiology at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, during which I did my master thesis at the Microbial Development Lab at ITQB-NOVA, where I started studying the biofilm formed by Clostridioides difficile. Currently, I am PhD student in Molecular Biosciences at ITQN-NOVA, where I am pursuing studying the role of biofilm-matrix proteins in the biofilm formed by Clostridiodes difficile. Additionally, I actively engage in science communication activities, sharing scientific discoveries and their implications with a broader audience.
