My passion for writing has led me to Santa Clara University, where I will work on achieving my bachelor's degree. As a first-generation college student, I will major in English and minor in Creative Writing. I cannot wait to get started and take part in every learning opportunity as SCU. I am confident that an education at this university will help me become a talented writer, editor, proofreader, and author because of its hands-on learning experiences like internships and writing workshops. After college graduation, I plan to work for a publishing company or a literary magazine. An English degree will enhance my writing, editing, proofreading, and critical thinking skills. Thus, I can apply all these skills to either an editor position or the role of a proofreader. Yet, my ultimate career aspiration is becoming an editor-in-chief because I love the editing/revision process. As an aspiring author and novelist, I am determined to write books reflecting on mental health struggles to eliminate its stigma in the Latiné community as many people in my community do not believe mental illness is real. By writing books and content related to these themes, I hope Latinos/as realize it is possible to manage mental illness and become more balanced and healthier individuals. In addition, I want Latinas, of all ages, to look at the covers of my books and see themselves, relate to the character's struggles, and gain inspiration to pursue their dreams because we Latinas deserve to dream big. I intend for Latinas, regardless of age, background, nationality, or color, to feel seen and understood rather than feeling like no one understands them and they are alone. In addition, I have a strong passion for community advocating and environmental sustainability within my neighborhood. I plan to do everything I can to create a more sustainable and greener future for my local community. I am enthusiastic about advocating for others who do not have a voice. I speak up for others whose voice is silenced. Domestic Violence Survivors, Mental Health Awareness, and Gender and Racial Equality are the causes I support deeply.

Summer InternThera Books Jun 2023 - Aug 2023California, United StatesAs a summer intern at Thera Books, I gathered updated biographies from the featured authors and staff members. I assisted with editing and rewriting biographies, as needed, to fit with the overall “voice” of Thera Books. One of my summer projects was reviewing the Thera Books website. This project included researching other small press websites such as Graywolf Press, Coffee House Press, and Sibling Rivalry Press. In doing so, I better understood what the Thera Books website could look like and received more media attention. After I conducted my research, I provided a written review of my recommendations to improve Thera Books' website content presentation, organization, and layout.Lastly, I had the pleasure of writing some literary pieces, including two poems. My supervisor, Donnelle McGee, assisted me with the editing process and provided constructive criticism to improve my poems' compression and readability.

BabysitterCare.Com Jan 2019 - Mar 2020San Jose, California, United StatesAs a babysitter to school-aged children, I often organized games and activities that encouraged imagination and social interaction while maintaining a safe and fun environment. If there were disagreements between the children, I successfully diffused arguments by teaching them to communicate effectively and compromise. For a couple of months, I worked with babies and toddlers. When their parents were away, I ensured their safety and well-being while treating care of their needs, i.e., changing diapers and bottle feeding. In addition, I used to put babies to bed by tucking them in and singing them lullabies.Upon request of the parents, I completed light housework, including cleaning spills, washing dishes after meals, and completed the rest of the tasks assigned by parents within a specific timeframe. By providing detailed daily reports on the children's activities and behaviors, I gained the trust of parents. In conclusion, I was skilled at building deep and valued trusted relationships with parents and children.
