Hi, I’m Isabel Sierra, a passionate research scientist with a B.S. in Biology, with an emphasis in Physiology, from San Francisco State University. During my undergraduate studies, I was one of 14 students selected for the prestigious SF BUILD research training program, where I collaborated on developing a 3D automated tool designed to deliver radiation to specific regions of interest using Python in Dr. Ziemer's lab at UCSF.After completing my degree, I joined the Sneddon Lab at UCSF, focusing on the survival and functionality of stem-cell-derived beta-like cells for potential cell replacement therapy in type 1 diabetes. Through this work, I gained hands-on experience in stem cell research, cellular biology, and advanced lab techniques. Additionally, I was part of UCSF’s Propel Program, a post-baccalaureate initiative aimed at fostering diversity and inclusion in research, furthering my commitment to promoting equity in the scientific community.In my free time, I enjoy volunteering, singing, hiking, and cooking.
