The Pacific Primate Sanctuary, Inc. is a not for profit organization who's main objective is to provide sanction to primates that have been kept as lab animals and pets, or displayed as an attraction. As a student intern, my responsibilities consisted of:-Providing care to over forty individuals, spanning five species of new-world primates, by maintaining enclosures, preparing species-specific meals, administering medication, and providing mental & physical enrichment. -Keeping detailed records of weight, size, physical condition, food intake, vital signs, and quality of fecal matter. Applied knowledge of animal husbandry to support global health of the sanctuary.-Knowledge of primate behavior and performance required; Individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation, and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
