LeRA aims to reduce childhood lead exposure through research in low- and middle-income countries.

Ambitious Impact / Charity Entrepreneurship selects potential founders, researches impactful ideas, provides training and facilitates access to funding. It has been described as the “Y Combinator” of the high-impact NGO space.As a participant in the nonprofit Incubation Program, I:• Was selected into a ten-person cohort for an intensive nonprofit development program (1800 applicants, <1% acceptance rate)• Completed over 40 project deliverables with rotating partners from around the world• Constructed sophisticated cost-effectiveness models, M&E plans, and geographic assessments

- Manage GiveWell’s external communications. Write on complex topics including specific programs (e.g. water chlorination, syphilis testing); statistical concepts; approaches to evaluating evidence; organizational updates.- Manage other communications-focused staff.- Handle major announcements. Pitch to media outlets. Approve and edit content for social media (tripled engagement from Sept. 2023 to Jan. 2024), mass emails, website, donor proposals, and other platforms.

Special projects: Reporting to the CEO, led strategic projects including:- Forecasting over a billion dollars in estimated future funds raised.- Designing and launching new org-wide initiatives, e.g. a Research Council of prominent academics and practitioners and a public contest for critiques of GiveWell's research.- Running the performance review process, managing an executive assistant, and other operational priorities.Board management: Served as liaison between GiveWell and its Board; managed Board meetings, communicating GiveWell’s strategy, goals, and progress.Internal communications: Developed and ran this function as GiveWell scaled from 20 to 70 people.

- Evaluated and published reviews of global health and development programs, with a focus on monitoring & evaluation. Managed relationships with all recommended charities.- Reviewed academic evidence and program data to inform grantmaking across top charity programs and areas like obstetric fistula surgery, neonatal health, and HIV prevention.- Provided media interviews and talks.- Cultivated relationships with major and mid-level donors.

As a section leader for EDUC 193A, I designed and led a weekly two-hour discussion section and worked with individual students outside of class to help them meet their goals. I also evaluated students from other sections at the end of each quarter.

As a Summer Research Analyst, I researched and composed an intervention report on the measles vaccine. Additionally, I vetted and summarized research by senior staff. I also investigated topics like the impact on carbon emissions of increased income in rural, very low-income communities in the developing world.

Created lesson plans and individually tutored students in 5th through 12th grade in subjects including math (through calculus), history, Spanish, AP Biology, and AP Physics on an ongoing basis.Provided tutoring in physics to adult learners going back to school.Conducted SAT prep lessons for high school juniors and seniors.
