Strong communication and relationship skills were essential, working with the lifeguard team and club members, to create a consistently safe, friendly and enjoyable swimming experience. While contributing to a fun environment, lifeguards must be prepared to intervene decisively and assertively in hazardous situations.

Representing my peers at the Student Council developed skills of teamwork, listening and negotiation. This involved diplomatically relaying student feedback to senior faculty staff and exploring issues such as the application of technology in the department. Subsequently invited to represent the department on university open days.

In the sixth form, led a profitable Young Enterprise Company of ten students that reached the County Finals with an innovative, re-usable post-it note product. This involved leading team meetings, maintaining team morale and setting a clear direction for the business. This opportunity to practise leadership skills, public speaking and entrepreneurship sparked a strong interest in a business career.
