I developed 50+ unique custom temporary fasteners that varied in complexity, going from concept through to final production for this aerospace engineering solutions firm. While in this role, I increased customers’ satisfaction; improved the production yield; enhanced product performance by designing 3D CAD models; defined new 2D drawing standards and quality review processes; and performed iterative nonlinear FEA. All in all, I successfully met the needs of such aerospace companies as Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, and Spirit in this role. In addition, I worked collaboratively with eight people from engineering, operations, manufacturing, and quality departments.One of my top achievements in this role is that I contributed to reducing the time required to release drawings to Manufacturing by 25 days. I also decreased the time to build and approved production-ready tooling by collaborating with manufacturing and quality teams to implement process changes.

Summer position. In this job position, I assisted design engineers in their projects, helped the manufacturing engineer and quality department to resolve an engineering change order (ECO) backlog, and assisted in developing and validating testing criteria and a testing process for R&D projects. I played a key role in meeting the 16-week lead time for Centrix fastener orders by assisting senior design engineers in their projects requiring additional FEA analyses for developing and validating designs. I created drawing packages that followed Centrix’s drawing standards, with limited redlining assistance. I then released the drawing packages to the manufacturing floor in a timely manner.In addition, I managed to reduce Centrix’s ECO backlog by 100+ packages. I achieved this by updating and releasing priority drawings using SolidWorks. As part of this process, I determined if drawing changes were made but not recorded, or if they were otherwise lost, and rectified these issues. I also made any required drawing changes, completed ECO paperwork, and initiated the ECO process with Quality and Manufacturing.

Summer position. I developed test methodologies for this startup designer and manufacturer of high-tech sporting goods. While in this position, I paired ideas with capital equipment, consistently keeping in mind the company’s budget constraints, while working collaboratively with 3-4 employees. My work on improving testing setups and methods for specific products significantly decreased the likelihood that lots would need to be fully tested due to faulty products or faulty testing methods.One of my biggest accomplishments in this position is that I achieved a 28% improvement in the company’s first-pass yield in six months. I achieved this by researching the product validation and test equipment required to ensure consistent product quality and performance.
