I am a B.S Candidate (both Neuroscience and Mathematics) at Tulane University in the School of Science and Engineering!I work in the lab of Dr. Maria J. Galazo, investigating the neurogenetics of cortical development and the direct reprogramming of the cerebral cortex. I plan to graduate in 2025, with a goal to continue my research career into my doctoral studies. My ultimate goal is to work as a research scientist, either in academia or in biomedical research industry. I hope to continue studying the formation of the brain, both over the course of a lifetime and over evolutionary history. Throughout my time in the Galazo lab, I have gained several research techniques, including: Polymerase Chain Reactions, Gel Electrophoresis, In-situ hybridization, behavioral tests, LB Plate Preparation, PCR Purification, DNA Extraction, and RNA Extraction. Furthermore, I have utilized open source code to develop an RNA Sequencing workflow for the lab, furthering our work into genomic expression and gene sequencing. In addition to my knowledge and proficiency in the above techniques, I have also developed many professional skills that would serve well in a company and/or team-based environment, including collaboration, scientific communication (both written and oral), literature review, adaptability, and training others in laboratory skills.
