MGH ReBlast Study - a DoD-funded study researching the effects of repeated blast exposure in Special Operations Forces personnel.This study has profoundly inspired me and deepened my commitment to this topic as a researcher and aspiring future physician.

Kaplan Lab

I completed a semester-long research project in the Kaplan Lab at Tufts University with the guidance of my PI on biomarker levels of pre and post-blunt traumatic brain injury in mice. I presented my findings to a Tufts Department of Biology faculty panel along with a final research paper. This project furthered my understanding of the mechanism of brain injury and developed my reasoning and analysis skills and my scientific writing abilities.

1. Cadet Lead - SOCOM Ignite SOCOM + ROTC partnership to facilitate innovation in future leaders During my first semester, I co-developed an algorithm rapidly iterated on and pushed out for deployment within the SOCOM enterprise. From the spring of 2021-2022, I was selected to lead the program, managing 60+ students nationwide. This program highlighted the importance of being technologically literate as a future leader, and I developed a true passion for understanding how to leverage better the tools we have around us to solve complex and multifaceted problems. Due to this, I was awarded an M.I.T. Lincoln Labs Military Fellowship along with a summer internship at a USASOC medical unit. 2. Cadet Lead - S.T.E.A.M. Ahead (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) Summer program supporting underprivileged middle-school students in the Boston area by engaging them in STEAM-focused projects, activities, and lectures. By leading this program, other ROTC cadets and I were able to support young students in their learning efforts. We helped prevent them from losing valuable critical thinking skills over the summer. This allowed them to start their academic year confident in their abilities and more inclined to participate in STEM-related fields. A memorable moment was when a young girl in my class started the summer apathetic and unsure of herself, and on the last day remarked that she would miss learning and spending time with us.
