I have been working as a part time cleaner during the week whilst studying for my degree. My responsibilities included: maintaining the cleanliness of a designated area that involves dusting, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors. I also sanitise working surfaces as well as cleaning glass surfaces and mirrors. It is essential that established cleaning procedures and safety guidelines are followed, and all tasks are completed to a high standard and within the designated time frames.

For 2 weeks as part of the placement module I undertook a 40 hour placement at Alsager School specifically working with the Criminology and Psychology Staff. During this placement I was able to shadow lessons involving a range of students from year 7s to Sixth form students. My tasks involved using my experience of studying the criminology course to create revision resources for the students to use to prepare for their upcoming exams. I was also assigned to focus on career prospects for criminology students such as accumulating resources to design a careers display board and advertising studying criminology as a degree at Staffordshire University.

During Sixth Form, I spent my free periods working with GCSE language students in both French and Spanish. For 2 hours a fortnight I would help students practice speaking in their chosen language either in small groups or 1-to-1 depending on how comfortable the student felt about speaking in front of their classmates.

My responsibilities included: offering good customer service by serving the public their choice of food in both dine in and take away facilities. I would adapt my communication styles as the bakery attracted a diverse range of individuals. The role also involved some cleaning duties such as sweeping, sanitising tables and dish washing.
