About Isabella L. M. Costa

I am a Ph.D. candidate at the University of California, Davis, where I am researching the effect of interface thermodynamics on nanocrystalline ceramics' mechanical properties. My background in polymer and composite materials, as well as my experience in processing and characterization, has given me a well-rounded perspective on materials science. I am dedicated to making a positive impact in the field of materials science and encouraging future generations to pursue careers in STEM. As an outreach delegate for the President's Council of Student Advisors (ACerS), I create the content for the mini materials kits and plan and organize outreach events to inspire the next generation. I am also the Region 1 graduate representative for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), where I organize events to support graduate students and promote diversity and inclusion in the field.
