Set-Up Technician And Food Runner/Busser - Events Department
CurrentAs my first time working at an Art Museum, this has been a very rewarding experience. As a set-up technician, I gained insight and skills in the hospitality side of the museum experience. This way, I had access to the museum at a level deeper than the surface of the galleries - the sheer number of people it takes to operate the museum and events behind the scenes, as well as navigation of the physical building beyond public access spaces. As a food runner/busser at Cafe Calatrava, I learned the importance of staying organized, clean, and efficient in a fast paced work environment. Staying cool and collected during times of high stress and pressure is a skill that had been drilled into me over the months. Time, space, and inventory management is a critical skill in this line of work as well, which is a skill that can be applied to a classroom setting. Under both job titles, "situational awareness" is a critical quality to possess in a chaotic work environment.
