Additionally I offer highly specific stylistic guidelines to singers, helping them understand and embody the nuances of each individual song. As the primary leader of Something Extra I am the main point of contact for all members and am intricately involved in every aspect of the group's operations and management. As musical director I also hold unique responsibilities crucial to our success. I oversee the audition process for new members, playing a pivotal role in selecting individuals who demonstrate vocal talent, musicality, and a commitment to the group's goals and values. I organize and lead tri-weekly rehearsals, ensuring efficient use of time and effective teaching of music for our upcoming performances. This involves selecting appropriate repertoire, breaking down vocal parts, and guiding the group in refining their sound and performance. I curate unique set lists for each performance that showcase our diverse capabilities and create a captivating musical experience for our audiences. This includes carefully assigning vocal parts and solos, based on members' strengths and range, ensuring balanced and cohesive sound and arranging the stage positioning of the singers for an optimal presentation. During the performance, I conduct the group to maintain synchronization and musical cohesion, delivering dynamic and engaging shows. Additionally, I contribute creatively to our repertoire by crafting a cappella arrangements which involves transcribing existing music into vocal parts, harmonizing, and adapting the arrangement to suit the capabilities and style of our ensemble, adding depth and diversity to our performances.
