Isabelle Kessler currently works as a Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) at the Department of Human Services (Behavioral Health Division) in Arlington County. Isabelle was previously employed as a Behavioral Tech with children on the autism spectrum with Leap Ahead in Manassas. A passionate mental-health advocate, Isabelle has twice shared her story of hope to over 3,000 people at the Hampton Roads Morning of Hope. She now serves as a part of Team Aspire, a First Episode Psychosis (FEP) team modeled off of OnTrack NY. As part of a cutting edge Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) program, Isabelle takes part in engaging, building skillful relationships with, and connecting young adults to community resources - with an emphasis on discovering personal aspirations. Isabelle practices strength-based and person-centered support and advocacy. She facilitates and co-facilitates support and skill-building groups, interactively teaching skills such as mindfulness, emotion-regulation, self-soothing, and more. While recognizing the unique, non-clinical role of Peer work, Isabelle identifies with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Isabelle will earn her Bachelor's and Master's degree in Social Work/Psychology and her Certification as a PRS. Delighted by the opportunity to expand the mental health community, Isabelle provides evidence-based, recovery-oriented, and radically genuine support and care. Guided by the principle of recovery, Isabelle believes that it is possible to build a life worth living for everyone - with kindness and compassion each step of the way.
