As a member of the private sector team, my role at UN Environment involves collaborating with strategic partners, such as governments, development banks, NGOs and private sector actors (finance institutions, tech firms and agri-businesses) to remove the barriers preventing the transition to a better way of funding sustainable and productive land use. To achieve this, a paradigm shift to a new approach to land use is required; one that decouples the inherent link between agriculture and soft commodity production, and deforestation. Through a range of pioneering initiatives, we are operationalising blended finance approaches that leverage public funds and strategically mobilise commercial capital at scale, re-directing it towards a range of development issues. Blended finance also achieves much more than just unlocking sustainable finance. It allows diverse actors working together to leverage strengths and improve networks to solve the problem of achieving high level targets (UN Sustainable Development Goals and Paris Agreement) with meaningful action on the ground.We recently announced strategic partnerships with BNP Paribas and Rabobank to deliver financing to land use projects in developing countries that offer verifiable environmental and social benefits that deviate from the standard practices, while offering attractive risk-return to investors. We are also delivering change through the &Green Fund, the TLFF and SCAF - FLR which offer assistance and incentives to actors through different stages of the investment process.

- Day to day follow up of transactions for a portfolio of 40+ commodities trading clients, proposed and obtained one-off tailor-made credit schemes to meet specific clients' needs- Preparation of disbursment documents, monitoring receivables/repayments and stocks, review of insurance and contracts, collateral management of financed transactions- Implemented trustworthy relationships, developed business oportunities, and considerably increased revenues with clients initially considered as weak
