The Computation and Psycholinguistics (CAP) Laboratory conducts linguistic, psycholinguistic, and neurolinguistic experiments to investigate the cognitive and perceptual mechanisms that underlie our ability to perceive and produce spoken and written language.PIs: Dr. Philip J. Monahan & Dr. Blair Armstrong- Played an integral part in running the Computation and Psycholinguistics (CAP) Laboratory at the University of Toronto Scarborough which includes an Electroencephalography (EEG) system, psychophysical testing cabins, and speech recording equipment.- Served as a liaison between all lab personnel and the two Principal Investigators- Supported the operation of the lab by managing administrative turnover, maintaining laboratory procedures, co-supervising and scheduling research assistants and participants, and handling participant compensation.

The Clinical Neurosciences Laboratory conducts research at the intersections of clinical psychology, neuropsychology and cognitive-affective neuroscience.PI: Dr. Anthony C. Ruocco- Obtained informed consent, collected relevant participant information while maintaining participant confidentiality, provided detailed explanations of experiment procedures and debriefed participants- Organized records of participant’s demographic information into an Excel sheet, ensuring data is stored accurately whilst maintaining participant confidentiality- Upheld research standards outlined by the Canadian Research Ethics Board- Monitored participants through Zoom as they completed a novel facial recognition task on Qualtrics and took detailed notes of their responses, questions, and concerns- Conducted a comprehensive systematic review, screening over 30,000 abstracts through Covidence to identify relevant studies based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria.

The EyeLands Lab conducts linguistic experiments to better understand how humans process and comprehend language(s) in real-timePI: Dr. Dave Kush- Obtained informed consent, collected relevant participant data while maintaining participant confidentiality, provided detailed explanations of experiment procedures and debriefed participants- Upheld research standards outlined by the Research Ethics Board- Collected and analyzed data using eye-tracking software to investigate sentence processing

- Providing compassionate, non-judgmental support to individuals seeking mental health support, de-escalating the crisis at hand through active listening, collaborative problem-solving, and safety planning techniques.

The Therapeutic Interventions for Psychosis (TIP) Lab conducts clinical research to better understand factors contributing to distressing symptoms of psychosis to improve treatment(s)and the overall quality of life for individuals with psychosis.PI: Dr. Michael W. Best- Completed verbatim transcriptions of therapy sessions to ensure the qualitative data needed for ongoing projects was easily accessible- Respected participant confidentiality by handling sensitive information with care- Facilitated the development of virtual CBTp workshops approved by the Canadian Psychological Association for continuing education accreditation, promoting knowledge translation ofevidence-based practices
