I was able to take part in this role due to a collaboration between Ian Conrad and JCU Law. This allowed myself and a handful of other law students to take part in a volunteer programme aimed at providing pro bono flood relief to the Townsville community.

I was able to complete four weeks of volunteer work experience as a Law Clerk at KLP Family Law. This work was extremely beneficial to me, both professionally and personally as it was my first experience in a law firm. After completing four weeks of volunteer work experience at KLP Family Law, I was offered a position as an administrative assistant. Throughout this employment I have continued to be responsible for the tasks I completed as a Law Clerk as well as beginning several self-directed projects.This work has given me great insight into the workings of a legal firm as well as sharpening my abilities to interact with clients and legal professionals in the appropriate manner.

I was a member of the Resident Advisory Council at my residential college. As a member of the Residential Advisory Council I was required to care for the emotional and mental well being of the student body of Saints Catholic College and ensure that they were enjoying the best possible experience at university and Saints Catholic College. This is achieved through organising social events and seminars for the students. In this position I also acted as a link for communication between the students and administrative team at Saints Catholic College.

This position allowed me to act as an academic mentor for first year law students living at Saints Catholic College. This position required me to create lesson plans, explain legal concepts, assist these students with their coursework and act as a pastoral mentor to guide them through their first year of university.
