My role as a PASS (Peer Assisted Study Session) mentor involved supporting PASS leaders by building team morale, providing constructive feedback and encouraging personal and professional development. The ultimate goal of a mentor is to continuously support leaders in order to provide a rich peer learning environment for students attending UTAS PASS sessions. I am also responsible for planning and conducting leader training days and aiding in team recruitment. Gaining a position as a PASS mentor is first assessed on one's strengths as a PASS leader, then through an interview and referral process, followed by an intensive training process.

After applying and being selected for a summer scholarship program, I became a research assistant for a PhD candidate at UTAS. My main roles included data entry and food preparation, however I was also invited to several consultations and meetings with participants and health professionals.
